Back in India

Our year in India was interjected with a trip home for Christmas. We couldn’t imagine not being with our family to celebrate, but that little break ended quickly and we were on a plane headed back again after only 3 weeks. I did not make any new years resolutions but I do want to be better at sharing/blogging about our experience here.

My problem with blogging is that I prefer to post my thoughts as I would prepare a Turkey Dinner:  Much preparation and time. This keeps me from posting more frequently so I am going to use a different mentality to blogging this year. I will employ a more “fast food” approach that will help me share more information more often.)

As I once again walk the streets of Kodaikanal, I have come up with a list of the top 10 ways to tell that we are back in town:

10. The air is filled with the sounds of what Harold refers to as “The Mahindra Bird” and “The Tata Bird”. (honking car horns)
9. Caution must be used to avoid slip sliding away in fresh piles of cow poo
8. Potholes exist that could swallow a smart car
7. Construction sites can be seen with man-made bamboo scaffolding
6. Firewood is highly sought after. No firewood=no evening warmth
Firewood
5. Homeless dogs are everywhere. (best not to make eye contact) 😦
4. Cows rule. Leave them alone
3. George’s Chocolate Chip Cookies are seen on grocery store shelves
Cookies
2. Rainy days and cyclones are once again a thing
1. The weather is amazing anyway and I’m pretty sure this is a little taste of what Heaven is like.

Until next time, make sure you keep your sidewalks shoveled (and your neighbours if you’re able). It’s a city bylaw.

  1. We just finished reading about Dr Ida Scudder who lived in that same region and was part a an amazing missionary legacy. Hi to Harold. At some point I missed why you’re there for a year?
